Your Pet’s First Appointment

We recommend that puppies have their first veterinary appointment when they are about six weeks old and kittens at approximately eight weeks.

At this first visit, your new pet will have a complete physical examination to assess their overall health, our vets will look for signs of congenital defects or underlying disorders, and search for external parasites.

More About Physical Exams

We will also give your puppy or kitten deworming medications for roundworms and hookworms, and administer their first round of puppy or kitten vaccinations.

More About Vaccines & Prevention

Finally, for kittens, your vet will conduct a blood test to look for feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus.

Follow-up Appointments

Kittens and puppies should attend 3 to 4 veterinary appointments when they are between the ages of 6 and 16 weeks. These visits give our vets the opportunity to assess your furry friend's overall health and to administer vaccines on schedule.
